Philosophical Counseling

Engage in a thoughtful exploration of your own beliefs, values, and life through meaningful philosophical dialogue. Sessions are available both in-person and online, and we also offer counseling in English.

Philosophical counseling is particularly beneficial for those navigating complex and confusing life situations who seek greater clarity and understanding. While philosophy does not provide direct answers or solutions, it offers tools for clearer thinking and a fresh perspective on your circumstances. The aim of these conversations is to achieve a deeper understanding of your specific situation and life as a whole.

What Can Philosophical Counseling Help With?

Philosophical counseling is particularly beneficial for those navigating complex and confusing life situations who seek greater clarity and understanding. While philosophy does not provide direct answers or solutions, it offers tools for clearer thinking and a fresh perspective on your circumstances.

Moral Dilemmas

Existential Crises

Spiritual Experiences

Feelings of Being Lost or Stuck in Life

How Does Philosophical Counseling Differ from Psychotherapy?

Philosophical counseling is not a form of psychotherapy. While psychotherapy aims to alleviate distress and resolve personal problems, philosophical counseling seeks to uncover truths about the world and your place within it. This process can sometimes feel uncomfortable, as it challenges assumptions and may even complicate the issues at hand. So why pursue it? Philosophizing enriches life, offering more profound understanding of oneself and the world. It’s not about solving problems—it’s about expanding the way you experience and interpret life.

Philosophical Counseling with Adam Lalák

At the Modern Mind Centre, philosophical counseling is led by Adam Lalák, a philosopher with a deep passion for exploring the mysteries of the human mind and the real-life challenges of human existence.

Adam studied Philosophy at the University of Cambridge, where his fascination with the complexities of the mind began. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Philosophy at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Germany, focusing his research on the relationship between thinking and spirituality. Adam has received specialized training in philosophical counseling at the Institut de Pratiques Philosophiques in France and the Socratisch Gesprek in the Netherlands.

Since 2021, Adam has been leading the Institute of Living Philosophy in the Czech Republic, an organization that offers experiential philosophy courses for the public. His professional experience spans business, non-profit work, and education.

Adam is a philosopher who values meaningful conversations with real people more than abstract academic discourse. He believes that philosophy has the potential to reconnect with what it truly means to be human. According to Adam, philosophy should address the real problems of life and provide tools to help us live better, rather than remaining confined to the halls of academia.

As a philosophical counselor, Adam views his work as a compelling alternative to psychology, religion, and new-age esotericism. His approach emphasizes using philosophy to engage with life's complexities, offering a profound and practical way to navigate the challenges of human existence.
