Kateřina Cabalková

I am a fully accredited therapist, offering support to individuals, couples, and families. As an active member of the Czech Society of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (KBT) and an accredited family therapist with the Society of Family and Systemic Therapists, I bring a wealth of professional expertise to my practice. My approach is integrative, blending various therapeutic methodologies to effectively meet the unique needs of each client.

I Am Fascinated by Self-Discovery

I studied Social Policy and Social Work at Charles University, where I am now pursuing a doctoral degree. My interest in self-awareness and student well-being led me to establish the Hybernská Counseling Center at the Faculty of Philosophy. I have trained in Transformational Systemic Therapy with the Society of Transformational Systemic Therapy V. Satirová CR and Dialectical Behavior Therapy through British Isles DBT Training. My qualifications also include Basic Crisis Intervention training at REMEDIUM Prague and Motivational Interviewing with PhDr. Jan Soukup, Ph.D. I continue to expand my skills through various courses, workshops, internships, and professional seminars, building a broad and versatile foundation for my practice.

I Am Active in the Academic Community

I am proud to be an active member of several professional organizations, including the Czech Association for Psychotherapy, the Society of Transformational Systemic Therapy V. Satirová ČR, and SOFT | Society of Family and Systemic Therapists, where I hold accreditation as a family therapist. As a full member of the Czech Society for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I actively contribute to the development of the organization, particularly through my involvement in establishing its new Dialectical Behavior Therapy section. These memberships reflect my commitment to staying engaged in academic and professional advancements in the field of psychotherapy.

I Work with Individuals, Couples, and Families

My commitment to embracing diversity is reflected in my multifaceted therapeutic practice. I have training in systemic therapy and specialize in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which builds upon cognitive-behavioral therapy principles. My professional experience includes working with individuals managing Borderline Personality Disorder at the DBT center of Kaleidoskop and serving as a therapist in the Stop Violence project at the SOS center of Diakonie. I have also provided educational and therapeutic support to students at Charles University, enriching my expertise and broadening my understanding of diverse therapeutic needs.

Principles of My Therapeutic Work

Therapy Is Suitable for Everyone

Therapy provides a space to explore anything that occupies your thoughts or causes discomfort in your life. I work with clients who value self-care and seek to understand their inner world, as well as those facing specific challenges. Together, we chart a path toward greater inner contentment and develop skills that empower them to fully engage with life while navigating its complexities with resilience and clarity.

Authenticity of the Therapist and Client

The therapeutic relationship is one of the most intimate connections we can experience. It is crucial to me that both the client and I feel comfortable and free to express ourselves openly in this shared space. In my practice, I enjoy using metaphors, analogies, and even humor to create a productive and relaxed atmosphere that fosters genuine communication and progress.

We Are Doing Our Best in the Present Moment

In therapy, I embrace a collaborative and non-judgmental approach, believing that every individual holds the inner strength needed to face their challenges. At times, however, an external perspective, support during life’s difficult phases, or a compassionate ear can make all the difference. The more we understand ourselves, the better equipped we are to navigate life’s complexities and build relationships that provide belonging and freedom.

I Work Experientially

I approach therapy experientially, recognizing that at times, mere words may not suffice or may not be readily accessible to articulate one's inner experiences. With mutual agreement between the client and myself, I find value in representing these inner experiences through objects, drawings, or body-focused techniques to deepen our understanding. This method creates a more dynamic and tangible way to explore emotions and uncover insights that might otherwise remain hidden.
